The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Chinese at the level of assistant professor, beginning fall semester 2025. A Ph.D. in hand or near completion and native or near native command of both Chinese and English are required. The area of specialization is pre-twentieth-century Chinese literature and culture. The successful candidate will be expected to teach language at all levels, departmental courses in his or her specialization, courses in the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum, independent studies as needed, and to direct in rotation a semester-long study abroad program to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
