The Carolina Asia Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a candidate for a one-year (renewable for a second year) postdoctoral scholar whose work addresses Southeast Asia and its transnational connections, preferably but not necessarily the Southeast Asian diaspora in the US Southeast. The successful candidate’s research should adapt traditional area studies to contemporary realities by situating the world region amidst overseas linkages broadly defined, from human migration and community networks to energy, trade, language, ecology, art, and/or other connective processes.
